Closing date: 8 September 2018
This is an exciting time for RCET as we embark on a new 5 year Strategic Plan which will see us develop and grow our services. To support our mission, we are looking to recruit three Trustees to help us continue to make a real difference to the lives of Armed Forces Children and Young People in Scotland.
RCET is Scotland’s Armed Forces Children’s Charity. Most Armed Forces families are lucky enough never to need our help, but for children from families who are struggling to make ends meet, living with ill health and disability, or experiencing difficulties at school, we provide a lifeline of support. In addition, we operate a highly successful and well-respected Education Programme in Scotland working with schools, local authorities, Armed Forces charities and the military.
RCET Trustees, who are all volunteers, are responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation, the charity’s business plan and organisational policies, and for monitoring the performance of the CEO and his team. The Committee of Directors (CoD) as the Trustee body is currently named, meets four times per year and consists of up to nine members. The CoD is currently reviewing the organisations governing document which includes terms of office. We are looking to recruit three additional Trustees at present.
Whilst the CoD cannot reflect all professional sectors, it is important that collectively CoD has a wide range of skills and experience. At the present time we are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge/ expertise in children’s social care, business, and education. As a military charity it is important that this is also appropriately reflected in the make-up of the CoD.
