I recently joined RCET as the new Fundraising Assistant. So far I have only been with the charity for a few weeks, but I am already deeply impressed at the level of commitment shown by the team towards bettering the lives of young people from Armed Forces families. I am honoured to now be part of this fantastic team who are so dedicated to the work they do to enable Armed Forces young people to access the same experiences and opportunities as their civilian counterparts.
Before RCET, I worked as an instructor for SkillForce, another military-based charity, in which I delivered sessions focusing on improving team-building, resilience, and confidence to school-aged pupils from Primary 2 right through to S6. I have also worked as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Japan in two Junior High Schools where I began to take an interest in the issues that affect young people. Joining RCET was the perfect opportunity for me to continue working in a field in which I could actively contribute to the work of improving the lives of young people, this time from military backgrounds.
I have joined the charity during a time of growth and expansion and I very much look forward to the new positive opportunities this will open up for the young people supported by RCET. I am also excited to assist Tash, RCET’s Fundraising Development Manager, who was previously on her own. I am looking forward to supporting her and meeting our incredible donors in raising the funds needed for the essential work of RCET in supporting Armed Forces young people and allowing them to thrive.
