In July we announced that our Chief Executive Colin Flinn would be retiring after 5 wonderful years leading RCET into a brighter, and better future.
In those 5 years we are proud to say that we have achieved many changes that have had a significant impact on the reach, and impact of the organisation as we seek to support every Armed Forces child in Scotland to reach their full potential. We have changed our constitution to allow us to not just support more children and young people, and to continue to focus on supporting children in education but crucially to now develop services to support their wide wellbeing. We have developed a children’s rights approach and a commitment to listening to, and acting on the voice of children and young people in influencing policy within Government and elsewhere. We have developed new services, doubled our workforce and crucially, implemented new organisational and financial strategies which we believe gives RCET a strong and sustainable financial future.
We are delighted to announce that we will continue to be led into a bright future for RCET by incoming CEO Laura Falconer. Laura will join RCET at the end of November and will take over as Chief Executive in January 2021.
She is currently Assistant Director of Impact – Mental Health & Wellbeing at Barnardo’s. She brings with her over 30 years of experience in supporting children and young people, and developing and managing children’s services
Laura says “I am honoured and excited to have been selected to lead this vitally important charity. I am passionately committed to ensuring our children and young people are at the centre of all we do, and I am looking forward to working with them and the team to lead RCET into the next stage of its development.“
We hope that you will join us in welcoming Laura to RCET. We believe that Laura’s leadership means that the future is hugely positive for RCET. We look forward to working with Laura to build on the achievements over the last 5 years with Colin at the helm.
We will be releasing more content from Laura in the New Year where she will set out her own vision for where RCET will go next and how you can support us as we continue to try to support every Armed Forces child or young people who needs us in Scotland in 2021.
