#SmallCharityWeek: Making a Big Impact During the COVID-19 Crisis

Now, more than ever, our essential services are needed by Armed Forces and Veteran families as many struggle to cope financially and mentally due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

This #SmallCharityWeek, we have been talking about how the services of small charities and organisations are #NeverMoreNeeded.

This is the case more than ever for the Armed Forces children and their families we have been supporting throughout this crisis.

Although we are a small charity, we have managed to support 25 families, and have communicated with double that number to inform them of the help we can offer. We also signposted those who needed help if we are unable to do so ourselves. We are currently waiting for a number of cases to come through from our partners.

One of our service users described the joy of her daughter when receiving one of our wellbeing packs in the post:

“I received your parcel today for my disabled daughter. She has no use of her limbs and is unable to speak but we help her hold the pencils. Her wee face lit up yesterday while making her dream catcher. She especially likes her bar of chocolate so your gift was very welcome. She sends you a big thank you. She’s a happy girl!”

Another has described how their daughter was ‘over the moon’ to receive a wellbeing pack:

“Thank you so much for the parcel, it was very kind of you to send this. Our daughter is over the moon with it. We have painted the pot for the sunflower and just have to get some soil & plant it. We have also made the dream catcher. Our daughter has also made a large dent in the big chocolate bar. She is at her happiest eating chocolate & doing arts & crafts so your parcel was definitely a winner!”

However, in order to keep supporting families like these, we need your support. Although the lockdown in Scotland has officially begun to ease as we enter Phase 2 today, there are still many Armed Forces families and their children who will need our help as it will be some time until life fully returns to ‘normal’.

Every penny donated will go towards supporting Armed Forces families who are struggling financially.

Please consider donating today what you can and help Armed Forces children and young people to THRIVE.
